INTRODUCTION Tong School’s Development Plan is the school’s way of organising relevant information about its current position and its intentions for the future. The process of development planning enables the school to focus on a manageable number of agreed priority targets and to monitor and evaluate the degree of success in achieving these targets. Primarily, the School Development Plan aims to be a programme for review and development which will enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the school. Our Development Plan consists of three sections:- 1 Aims Section – statement of the school’s aims. 2 Audit Section – statement of how the school has performed in achieving its targets for the previous year’s key areas of work. 3 Action Section – outlines the projects for the next year and the steps to be taken to achieve the targets associated with them. SECTION 2: AUDIT REVIEW 2004/05
STAFF SURVEY carried out in 2003/04 Staff Survey Scores as percentages
In May 2005 an audit of Additional Support needs was carried out and submitted to the Education Department. Child Protection Training was carried out with all staff. Resources The Head Teacher and secretary shared the same office at the time of this survey. However, the Head Teacher has now moved into the Learning Support Room to carry out her management duties. The pitch at the rear of the school is water logged and requires to be developed. The school board are also to be involved in this development. MAINTENANCE AREAS

SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2005/6
1.2 The outcome of this process is that we were able to identify five targets which we intend to achieve by the end of session 2005/6. We believe this will improve educational provision in the school and provide long-term benefits for all our pupils. 1.3 A full copy of our development plan is available to parents and other interested parties on request and it is also on the school website..

STAGE 3: PRIORITISATION OF DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES The following were identified as priority development areas for next session.
Assessment Health Promotion Eco-School Initiative School Environs NATIONAL PRIORITY 1 Achievement and Attainment Assessment is for learning programme to be progressed in the School Development Plan for 2005/06. Keep abreast of the agenda "A Curriculum for Excellence" and implement any changes made.
NATIONAL PRIORITY 2 Framework for Learning Health Promoting Schools audit – stage 2 to be completed in session 2005/06. The school will work towards achieving Health Promoting School Status.
NATIONAL PRIORITY 3 Inclusion and Equality Comparisons made with CAT results, national attainments and individual assessments for each pupil during session 2005/06.
NATIONAL PRIORITY 4 Values and Citizenship Implement the authority statement on citizenship and promote activities to provide pupils with necessary citizenship skills. Promote Eco-Schools Initiative Continue to raise awareness of the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Work towards achieving the green flag award. NATIONAL PRIORITY 5 Learning for Life Implement the Western Isles Enterprise in Education Plan and incorporate enterprising activities into the curriculum.
