Art Policy

Aims

1 To offer a stimulating environment where creative work can be developed, produced, evaluated and appreciated.

2 To offer enjoyable and stimulating learning experiences, through topics which are of interest to pupils.

3 To develop imaginative thought, observation, visual and tactile sensitivity - derive interest, stimulus and pleasure from the natural and man-made environment.

4 To give opportunities to select and organise materials and media in order to develop a range of techniques, processes and skills.

5 To express ideas and feelings in a variety of ways.

6 To develop use and understanding of terms and art vocabulary in order to enhance expression orally, as well as visually.

7 To introduce the work of famous artists as a means of appreciating art in history, stimulating discussion and forming opinions.

8 To enjoy and appreciate their own art and that of others.

Drawing Pencils, charcoal,wax crayons, pens, chalk, pastels;Variety of paper.

Design and Pattern Pencils, pens, paint, ink, tissue paper, etc.

Painting Poster paint, powder paint, ink, brushes, rollers, sponges.

Print Potatoes (and other vegetables), card, wood, lino, string,

Making polystyrene, etc.

Collage Assorted paper, fabric, wool, thread, various off-cuts/scrap material, scissors.

Three Dimensional

Work Clay, plasticine, balsa-wood, card/cardboard, etc

Study of Displays, visits. Study of objects, drawings, paintings, reproductions, Artefacts sculptures, etc.
